when in fear, expand; keep spending your money

I’m not saying to get excessive or gluttonous with your pocketbook; just continue to treat yourself right (even if it’s small purchases) with things like chocolate or your favorite tea. My point; don’t contract, stay expanded. Deep breathing helps.
‘Scarcity thinking’ like the thought of saving your pennies and not spending a dime, will not help you survive the current economic situation and will only serve to create blocks for yourself. Money is energy (it really is) and as Deepak Chopra says, “It (money) is an energy that needs to move freely (giving and receiving) and when stopped, that energy coagulates like the blood in our veins.” That’s not healthy and we can feel it on a physical level. Stress anyone?
Of course, make necessary budget changes, like drive less, eat at home more regularly, and/or wear a sweater indoors to keep heating costs down. You also can help the planet in the process. Managing our money well doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t take care of ourselves.
Our priorities change during times of stress. At the top of the list is ‘you’ and taking care of yourself to reduce your stress levels is number ONE. After all, we can’t possibly come up with solutions if we are not well rested, fed and loved; self-loved that is.
One thing that helped me was to open a free savings account which I call, ‘My Play Account.’ My friend Jen gave me this idea. At the end of every month I spend all the money in the account on something very decadent for myself. Even if there’s only $10 (in the account) for me to play with, I’ll figure out what I want and I’ll get it. Chocolate has been on that list as has a luscious Mai Thai at my favorite restaurant. Doing this makes me appreciate myself in a different way; a more conscious way.
It’s called loving myself. I stay expansive, I feel abundant and I know that I deserve it. So do you and so do we all.

Thanks for posting this, Cheryl. It’s good to see others with similar thinking are out there, and I believe spreading the message like this is a helpful thing for more people too.
Have a great day,
Matt

Doing this is especially difficult, and especially necessary, for those of us who grew up surrounded with the mentality that scarcity is more “moral” than abundance. Times like now trigger me to return to childhood ways of thinking and being, and as an adult I can do better! I am looking at now as a time to step up my dedication to myself, my loved ones, and my purpose in life. Shedding the un-necessary only helps my budget and wellbeing and takes me closer to my life purpose.

Well done Cheryl! You bring up a good point about being mindful about every thing, and now is an especially good time to be mindful about every purchase. Keep up the great postings!

Hi Dear Cheryl,
Hooray for this posting! Yes YEs YES! Keep it circulating. Just what I needed to hear today. I’m gonna get to that sauna I’ve been dreaming of THIS WEEK~!
I also recommend giving some money away when we feel stressed about money. You decide the amount…it could be a small thing like putting time on a few parking meters, or slipping a few extra dollars in the collection box at a church or other place of spiritual nourishment… OR leaving a bigger tip than usual for ameal. It’s good to feel …
to really f-e-e-l..expanded and ‘rich enough’ to give some away!
With all those banks just sitting on that 250 BILLION dollars they just got from ‘the government’ (i.e. Us!) and still not lending, we need to change the vibration and lead the way. Give some away!
