what’s the best shape for the path to my front door?

Question: Now that summer is here, I am working on my front yard. My landscape gardener is suggesting a new path leading to my front door.I have heard that in feng shui the shape makes a difference. What design is good for bringing abundance into my house?

Cheryl: Here’s my answer. In feng shui you want to avoid straight pathways to the door. It’s considered a straight arrow of energy that moves too fast that can bring negative energy to you. The idea is to slow the energy down, hence slowing you down as you arrive to the front door which is considered the threshold point from your outdoor world to your internal personal domain. My suggestion is to create a wave in the path (not too wavy) which is also associated with the element of water. Translation: Good money energy, and abundance coming towards you. One last note: Make the path beautiful, bordering it with flowers and always try to use materials that are earth friendly.
Happy 4th of July!

After talking cost, I must keep my path that I have. It is a straight path to my door, it starts out wide to the street, then narrows, then widens at my door. Is there anything that is cost effective that I can do to slow down the energy?

Hi Linda, That’s ok. Actually it sounds like it’s not completely straight since it widens and narrows. Simply adorn the borders with beautiful colorful flowers that really put a smile on your face. Choose reds, yellows, blues and purples. And then beautify your front door area with a big beautiful colorful mat or with the words welcome on it. Maybe hang a wind chime and/or place a large red pot to the side of the door (if there is room) with a sweet plant (no spiky leaves).
