my home is my heart

Okay, I admit it–I am madly in love. You might think it’s with another human, but I’ll be the first to admit that my beloved is my new home. Yes, it’s true! We’ve been together now for about 18 glorious weeks of making design love in every room (including the backyard!)….Ok truth be told, like every relationship, we had a few minor hiccups along the way, but they smoothed themselves out and my dream home was born. That’s my living room space in the above photo, a lounge haven. It is located in the Helpful People area of the Bagua map (a feng shui tool used to promote positive energy in a space) but more on Feng Shui later so stay tuned.

And can I be eco-chic here? Totally. The curtains are eco- silk, made with eco-safe dyes, no formaldehyde by Anna Sova, the walls are painted in Yolo Clay 06 (no vocs please…) and the fireplace in Ben Moore’s new Aura paint color Wenge. I also burn eco-friendly java logs which last for up to 3 hours and are made of compressed coffee grinds.

Relaxing is awesome. I highly recommend it. If we create a home environment that invites us to do just that, we are happier and healthier people. Kind of simple but true. Design is a passion of mine. For more photos of my home, and other design work, check out the gallery page. Do you love your home as much as I do? I would love to hear your stories on how your space inspires you.

Wow! Someone else who also is in love with their house… It was love at first sight for me. Though my house needed lots of love and care, it called to me. Now every time I can do one more thing to make it healthy and whole, I am happy. I just fixed a roof that had been leaking for years. Now my porch is so beautiful and it feels so good to know it is finally fixed. I look forward to many years with my wonderful house! I love your blog!!!! I look forward to reading more!

Your blog is quite inspiring. It is true that we all need to relax more. Your blog is helping me tune into having a balanced life. We all have the stress part down now we just need to counter it with more rejuvenation time. Eating and sleeping cannot be the only we we give back to ourselves. The more rejuvenation the better.

Thank you for helping us all tune into our needs. This is important.

Oh… that adorable home!! She’s a lusty lady, isn’t she? As the former inhabitant of the old gal, I can all too well appreciate your infatuation with her. It is a wonderful home, and I am sooooo happy that she is now being loved up by YOU. I love what you have done with color and pizzaz. I can see the love you have for her, and she will reciprocate… this I feel sure.
