more swedish interior design musings

I’ll admit that I don’t speak Swedish, and maybe that’s a good thing because it eliminated my being influenced by any story behind these photos from Swedish Interior Design Magazine Sköna hem.
That, however, doesn’t stop me from being deeply inspired and intrigued by the design coming out of that forward thinking country. Aren’t you a bit curious?
Above photo: I love the idea of a wallpaper backsplash in a kitchen. What a fabulous idea. Of course it has to withstand the heat generated from kitchen grease, but look how it infuses female lines in a linear looking kitchen. Plus when you get bored, you can easily change it. Love the feel of the warm wood.
Feng Shui kudos for keeping the corners rounded on the wood top.
I’m guessing now, but this fabulous sacred space is probably on the Baltic Sea. What a beautiful breath of fresh air. I love the all white theme including the floors. The quilt and upholstered chair give it the texture it needs while inducing the more female touch. I might just a hint of hot pink.
Feng Shui kudos: Beams above are also painted white, giving it an energy of lightness.
This is an adorable bathroom with what looks like a cotton canvas skirt. I appreciate the asymmetrical placement of the medicine cabinet. I can’t help but wonder what’s on the other side.
Yummy. I’m not sure about the green wall color (for my personal taste) yet here it looks very sweet. I love the chandelier placement for a more romantic feel. Sliding door is a great idea. I might replace the mirror with a beautiful image of the Baltic Sea or other nature image in Sweden. A great napping spot.
This gorgeous modern kitchen keeps its warmth in the dark wood. Love how this person threw in a more tradition looking rug with reds and purples. The perfect touch.

Sköna Hem is one of my regular Swedish reads. I hadn’t seen these pictures before. The second shot of the bedroom with a view over the ocean is just gorgeous.
