home depot and habitat for humanity go green together

This news made me so happy.
So check it out. According to New Mexico Business Weekly, ” The Home Depot Foundation is giving Habitat for Humanity International $30 million for a national green building program called “Partners in Sustainable Building.”
What does that mean exactly? Well, for those of you who don’t know who Habitat for Humanity are, they are a volunteer based, non-profit organization started by our former President Jimmy Carter 25 years ago, who build homes globally for those of us in extreme economic need. There are thousands out there doing it and now with this new partnership, it’s all about going green. Very exciting.

I know some people who have volunteered with them and have seen some amazing results. I love that they’re combining humanitarianism with environmental awareness. Thanks! I’m in too!
