high design audio room visits alice in wonderland

Or at least, that’s how it feels from this perspective. Sit back, relax, listen to the music and down the rabbit hole you go. Just a theory I had after seeing this fabulous (other worldly) audio art installation KT: The Listening Room, created by designer’s MAT Studio and Elastik for Tokyo Designers Week.

A 20 foot shipping container was used to create the noise and vibration free insulated space.

According to Dezeen, fifteen speakers were oriented towards the visitor’s seat in order to create what the designers hoped would be a “spatial sensation that is in-between the notion of the concert hall and the I-pod headphone.” Classical music was played.

I can only imagine the experience. Yet, I can’t help be drawn in by the female focused design with her waves of movement (akin to sound movement) and what looks like her long hair at the entrance.

Feels like a cave, set in the Matix.
