gimme shelter exhibition highlights creative minds at work

Through the whispers of Dwell Magazine I found out about the recent Gimme Shelter exhibition featuring six temporary woodland shelters that offer places of rest and respite to the visitors of the 350-acre nature preserve just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.month, presented by the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education.
Designers and architects around the world were asked to design outdoor shelters that highlight green design. The Schuylkill Center received 80 entries, narrowed it down to 12 finalists and then chose 6 to build and open to the public for one year.
My favorite (shown above) is called Rain Sail.
Who could resist lying on a hammock while feeling grounded by those wonderful trees, and gazing up at the white sail floating in the wind. I imagine the mind resting in the hammock free to imagine Herself sailing on the sea.
“Constructed of recycled billboard material, this structure features hammocks under sail-like wings of fabric that collect rain to power generators and light the structure at night.” - Dwell
Ah the joys of innovation, harmonizing with the planet. I heart creative minds at work.
