B.happybags colorful line of eco-chic shopping bags made out of upholstered cotton and recycled plastic bottles. Aren’t they cute?
Okay so we all know that it is no longer acceptable to go to the market without our re-usable shopping bags in tow, and I, Cheryl Janis am now committed to this; my reusable shopping bags are now always in my car.
I was reading a Star Bulletin posting the other day and came across some very eco-chic bags that I wanted to share with you; B.happybags offer a line of adorable bags, shown at left.

I love this 100% eco-chic hemp canvas shopping bag, available at Rawganique.com. It’s simple and durable.
Ok, so the idea here…let’s just keep reusing our bags and stop with paper or plastic…I am including myself in this sweet eco-talk…
Speaking of recycling paper and plastic bags, I was reading last week’s New York Times and was excited when I read this….
“The (NY) City Council on Wednesday overwhelmingly passed a bill requiring large stores and retail chains to collect and recycle plastic bags they give to shoppers. New York is by far the largest American city to enact so broad a measure to limit the environmental impact of the bags. Altogether, each year the country is estimated to use 86 billion bags, which end up blowing down city streets, or tangled in the stomachs of whales and sea turtles, or buried in landfills where, environmental organizations say, they persist for as long as 1,000 years.”
Oh, eco-chic New York City, we love you…The idea of being able to return bags to the store they were given at, makes me really happy…think of all the waste we will prevent…May all other states follow in your footsteps.
One last nod before I go…Dr. Kristin Sulis of Mt. Tabor Veterinary Care just got the most adorable re-usable shopping bags for her practice….and guess what? She just gifted me one last week…I love it!
Check this out:
That’s my adorable friend Kristin with her Mt. Tabor Veterinary Care bag going shopping.
We love you Kristin.

Cheryl - thank you! I definitely have a bag obsession (as you can read on the blog about my new bags). When I forget a bag and can’t carry my items from the store, I feel like I do when I’m visiting family and have to *throw* aluminum or bottles into the TRASH! It just seems so wrong.
I was excited to hear about stores in New York taking their bags back to recycle - thanks for keeping us up to date!
