‘think’ city electric cars coming to america

Norway’s Think City Electric Car is on its way to the U.S. Let’s do the happy dance.

Oh, cute adorable Think City urban electric car, you remind me of the boy race-car McQueen from the Pixar film “Cars,” - speedy and happy!

So yeah, more thoughts on the electric car. As you know (if you’ve been reading my blogs,) electricity has been on the minds of many including me and here’s some more happy news–Norway’s Think City Car is coming to a U.S. town near you! Check it out:

According to Inhabitat, and I love this, “These super efficient tiny cars will be hitting the streets of North America, where Think hopes to entice consumers with a reasonable price tag and freedom from gas-guzzling gargantuans.”

How sporty is the red dot on the road? Very.

More details from Inhabitat: “The Think Car is a small compact electric vehicle that is capable of running up to 100km/hr (62 miles/hr) and can go 180km (112 miles) on one charge. It’s cost will run about $25,000, making it the perfect vehicle for the urban dweller. At the moment, the Think City is the only vehicle from the Oslo-based manufacturer to be commercially available in the US. However plans exist to introduce a SUV crossover, called the Ox.”

Check this out:

This electric baby has been appropriately named the Ox.

I think this is going to appeal more to the boys.

zero emissions, no gas required

Ok, so I’ll admit it. Gas prices are ridiculously high right now and it’s pissing me off. I did have a photo of a Class C Mercedes Benz on my inspiration board (which I was going to run on bio-diesel) but that intention has now officially changed to an electric car. I’m done with gas, its effects on the planet and the oil companies who are making a killing on it. I know patience is a virtue, at least for another year or so before the electric sedan models come on to the market. But, hey, it’s going to be worth it. Look for full size cars that get 150 to 200 miles per charge. No big deal. While I’m charging my I-Pod, I’ll remember to plug in my car. Imagine that.

Here’s what’s going on right now:

Miles Automotive - ZX40 is committed to developing all electric vehicles that use no gas and produce zero tailpipe emissions. Source:: About.com

As stated on About.com, “The XS500 sedan is currently under development and will travel at freeway speeds (topping 80 mph) and will be able to travel 120+ miles on a single charge—to the equivalent cost of about one gallon of gas.” That’s beautiful. I’m betting the color choices will be fabulous.

For all you truck lovers out there, this one’s completely electric, coming out in 2009.

Phoenix Motorcars (based in Ontario California) are developing these zero-emission, 100% electric freeway-speed fleet vehicles including the above truck and the SUV below. They state that the Altairnano lithium titanate battery is a “non-toxic, all-battery solution to eliminate noise and toxic vehicle emissions that contribute to air pollution.” ::Source: About.com

Say hello to my future electric car. Isn’t she sleek and elegant?

As stated on their website, “This SUV will travel over 100 miles on a single 10-minute charge. Holy shit. Did you hear that? “And, with a sophisticated chassis and regenerative braking, this fully electric vehicle is not only powerful, it’s practical and really cool.” Yes, you are indeed.

Phoenix Motorcars, you’ll be hearing from me shortly. Electric cars of the world unite.

Sexy, sleek and sustainable Tesla hits Los Angeles

Oh beautiful and sleek humming bird of an electric sports car.

Ok, I admit that I’m not normally into sports cars but this one, the two-seat Tesla Roadster that runs on its lithium-ion battery-powered engine makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Of course part of the reason is its planetary healing powers, kind of like a superhero car that goes 225 miles on one charge and emits zero carbons. There’s also a sweet combination of strong man with soft womanly curves that draws me in. I have a feeling the animated version will soon be on TV.

I love this description by Jeremy Snyder, head of Tesla’s client services who (as he drove off the lot) said “It just emitted a powerful hum, like a much quieter version of a jet taking off.” Imagine that. Pretty powerful stuff.

The Tesla officially moves into the marketplace next week with it’s first showroom in Westwood, California. For those of you who don’t know, that’s in Los Angeles, right near UCLA in between Brentwood and Beverly Hills. With all its glitz and glamor, L.A. is the perfect launching pad.

In 2010, Tesla will unveil family car versions of this magnificent electric creation. Imagine not having to depend on gas stations.

It’s a reality and it’s happening right now. For more info, click here.

Murray the Electric Car–Oh Adorabe Eco-Chic You

1_3.jpg

Yes, that’s me on a beautiful (almost) Spring day in Portland with Murray. Isn’t he handsome?

Ok, so yesterday, my darling, dear, loving, beautiful and eco-conscious friend Jen and former editor of Green Living Magazine…(whew! that’s a lot of adjectives)…but yes, you get the idea…Anyway, Jen came over with yummy goodies from Sweetness Bakery Cafe (love them!) and had driven over in her electric car, whom she loving calls Murray. Oh look, there she is now in the photo below…

That’s rosemary in Jen’s hand from my garden…We’re at beautiful Mt. Tabor going for a walk…

So anyway, we’re driving in Murray to the park for a walk in the sunshine and I notice that people in cars and on the street are extra friendly, smiling back at us. Now this is not a regular occurrence when I’m in my regular gas drinking car….Maybe it’s because we’re really cute!….or it could be that everyone here knows what an electric car is and that it doesn’t take any gas to run it…And that puts a smile on everyone’s face.

Ok here are some more details on this eco-chic car. Murray runs on a battery that is charged while at home and each charge lasts for 30 miles. He goes up to 37 miles per hour. So what if Murray doesn’t go on the freeway, my grandmother didn’t drive on the highway either….but this handsome car can take you shopping, driving around town, errands, friends houses, even to the mall…And that is very eco-chic.

Ok so here’s the bonus: Murray is so super quiet, you don’t even know that he is running….Love that….As Jen said to me as we got into the car, “Imagine if all cars were this quiet, how that would change the energy of the planet.” I hear you baby and it’s very healing…

Murray, we name you honorary citizen of Planetpinkngreen. Jen, I love and adore you!
