big things come in small packages

A tiny space yes, but after we feng shuied it–yummy and abundant!

The first time I went over my friend Jen’s house, she complained about how small she felt her home was and that she needed more space. I gently explained to her that it’s not about the size, it’s about what you do with the space and how it makes you feel. Sound familiar? At that moment the only solution in her eyes would involve moving to another home or at least a major remodel. Not so said I. And I’ll prove it to you.

So we both got movin’! I supported her with my feng shui design recommendations and guidance and she got her ass in gear and did ALL the work herself–within one month…and all creatively I might add: on a budget.

The result: total transformation! Rooms that were once considered dead zones (empty areas with no life energy) turned into lounge spots of love and light.

After photo of the bedroom: Dark, yes but also sensual.

Her love area (their bedroom) before, was disconnected from the rest of the home. She then painted it herself, bought a beautiful new dresser she found at Denali Home Furnishings for $100 bucks (an amazing price), brought in some art from her storage unit and voila—it is now re-connected with the rest of the home and she always wants to go in there. I bet you can guess how that will affect their love life.

Jen now totally gets it. In the space (first photo) we placed artwork and accessories with intention–the items reflect her (and her husband Josh’s) inner self. They now spend time in the lounge fireplace area of the living room (above photo) all cozied in feelin’ all mushy and lovey. And especially by the fireplace, could you ask for anything more romantic?….And well yes, they are a very romantic couple anyway.

It all happened so fast….I went over there on Tuesday afternoon for afternoon tea in front of the fireplace and asked her how she now felt about her home. She replied, “very grounded…it doesn’t even feel like the same space…and…we’re not going anywhere…”

Music to my ears.

Wow! I love the information in this blog. It is so nice to know that you can make changes from just a little work. And it is also comforting that size does not matter, maybe you can expand on this again in another blog. Can’t wait for the next one.
