being green starts with self-care, part 2

Stretch and yawn…I’m back from my nap…so much better!
Have you read my blog entry on 12/8 on how napping is eco-chic, holiday self-care 101? Yes, I do believe that napping is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves this season. All those who agree, raise your right hand.
Okay, on to a magical story of love, the power of intuition and the lesson to not always believe what your doctor tells you. Here’s the story:
When a single, young Oregonian woman from Bend became pregnant with her third child, she was really happy. That was until she went to the doctor, had some tests performed which revealed a large growth (and growing) right outside the baby’s heart cavity. The doctors said there was a 99% chance it was cancer and advised her to abort…
Kiana, the Divine baby (at right) - healthy, happy and full of love.
“Not so”, said this young mother. “I have faith and I’m keeping her”. She promptly gave her the name Kiana translated as “the Divine” in Hawaiin….yes she is!….and firmly set the intention to bring this baby to life. She also intuitively knew that the baby didn’t have cancer. Read on.
Then guess what happened? Kiana’s mom lost her job, since her doctors advised her not to move too much for the baby’s sake. So without work and no family to support her, she checked in to the local women’s shelter with her two children in tow and a third one on the way…Not very fun….Turns out, this young mother was very blessed and she had faith to prove it.
The state of Oregon decided to lend a hand and paid for most of her medical expenses at OHSU. Go Oregon! Also the non-profit Ronald McDonald House–a national organization that temporarily houses families for children who are having health crisis, lent a helping hand. Each time Kiana’s mom came to OHSU which is in Portland, she was invited to stay the RMH.
I’m happy to share this happy ending with you:
Kiana was born and immediately taken in to surgery and guess what? That growth I mentioned before, was just that!!…extra lung tissue which simply needed to be removed. No cancer baby love! Kiana’s mom is now working again and has three healthy children.
The lesson here: Follow your heart, let your intuition guide you and don’t always believe what someone (even a physician) might tell you.
