artist creates lost city of atlantis with used plastic bottles

A very creative project indeed. London-based artist Gayle Chong Kwan collected plastic food packaging from people who live in London to create the above art installation called Atlantis, which was commissioned by Arts Co and is showing until Dec. 6 at 29 Thurloe Place, SW7 2HQ.

Often referred to as the lost city, Atlantis is a mythical city said to have existed on an island in the Atlantic ocean that apparently one day, simply disappeared. Plato wrote about the city around 350 BC.

The exhibit will also show large scale photographs of Atlantis completed by the artist, like those shown below.

Interesting, beautiful and thought provoking. And I’m not sure why, but I get the idea that Gayle might be channeling an energy from a different dimension. Just a feeling.
