a dutch designer and his LED bubble light
By on August 4th, 2008
‘What’s this?’ you might wonder. Well, it’s the latest lighting design by dutch Eric Klarenbeek and it’s showing in the Wonder Room at Selfridges department store in London through October. Very eco-schwanky yes. The Lucid Dream (very appropriate name) is an illuminating hand-blown glass bubble which features an LED with an intended lifespan of 50,000 hours and only uses 6 watts of electricity. This is my favorite part:
By combining Led-lights with the ability of glass to transmit light by internal reflection, the light source disappears and the entire surface of the bubble glows as a soap bubble. Capturing a moment in a flood of energy. Source: Dezeen

That would look cool over a dining room table.
