Okay so if you read PPnG often enough, you know that EWF Modern (EWF = East West Fusion) is one of my favorite modern furniture showrooms in Portland. It’s decadent nature makes it akin to the best chocolate in existence. I was in the other day to interview owner Renee Russo (coming soon!) and well, I just had to take some photos. The white leather sofa (above photo) is made in Italy by a family owned operation who uses as many natural ingredients as possible. The quality ranks high. The design? Well, it’s on my wish list. And my birthday is in two weeks (for those of you who were wondering…)
This bed (made out of sustainable mahogany and re-purposed wood from Brazilian barns) is one of EWF’s most popular items . I can see why.
These sleek beauties are the newest creation of Japanese designer Shin Azumi for British homeware brand Innermost, tenderly named, ‘Ribbon.’ What I’m so impressed with is the zero waste single process under which these modern accessories are manufactured. It’s a throw back to old world techniques Check it out:
“One of the other simple things that came from this project was almost zero wastage; a single material using a single process where if the items don’t form correctly they are returned to the smelter and if they are damaged during polishing they either get polished more or returned to the smelter.” –Source:: Dezeen
This would look gorgeous with orange or rust colored taper candles. Word is they are already in production.
Oh you Brits, there you go again being creative and innovative. This is actually a real sand castle hotel, the first in the world located in Weymouth Beach in Dorset, UK.
Front view of the hotel which was designed by sculptor Mark Anderson and commissioned by the website LateRooms.com, created to look like a giant sand castle.
The sand hotel was orchestrated as a publicity stunt by the hotel company, and the biggest sand structure ever built in the UK, designed for the renaissance of beach holidays after its research found that 57% of the country’s holiday-makers were shunning foreign destinations in favor of British seaside resorts. For a mere US$21 a night you can stay here. Sleeping under the stars sounds sweet. Cute beds. Feels like a sandy doll house, kind of like a 7 year-old’s dream.
As Life in the Fast Lane mentions, “You can book reservations to sleep in the gigantic sandcastle, but you’d best hurry, as it’s only available from now until the tide or rain washes it away.”
Okay, so Betty Rides, the international girls snowboarding clothing company and my client, hosted a visit last Friday from the newest Bachelorette who came to town to choose her bachelor (shown at right.) The Bachelorette (shown at left) looking hot in Betty Rides gear stands next to BR CEO Janet Freeman. By the way, that hot pink on the wall is earth friendly, low voc, Yolo Colorhouse Petal .04. Janet and I chose it together and girl, it’s powerful. We love you Betty Rides.
Okay so when I see something that puts a smile on my face, my first instinct is to post it here, especially when it has to do with the pottie. How fricken adorable is that sign? Very. It was taken at last weeks design graduation show at Köln International School of Design in Cologne Germany. Oh you Germans, you’re so cute. Can we adopt you?
