spanish green home…eco-living the dream

This gorgeous eco-beauty is a holiday home perched atop a Spanish cliff…

Ooohhh beauty Divine. Imagine your vacation home here overlooking the blue sea in Spain and totally designed green. Ok, so let’s visualize….

Located in Cantabria, Spain (that’s in the gorgeous Northern part of the country)…and designed by Madrid-based Nolaster Architects, Casa OS, this home integrates green building techniques to create high-end, low-impact accommodation. Source: Inhabitat

Daytime view….Imagine the view from inside this baby…

Ok, so here are some of the green details…

“The front of the home looks out over the sea with the back end supported by stilts over a cavern in a dug-out hill. Combining this wind protection with insulating grass roof means that temperature is much easier and less energy-intensive to control and the building’s visual impact is much less imposing. Other features include an inner yard to provide an open space protected from wind and rainwater collection for reuse fushing toilets and watering the roof and garden in summer.”

Love the aesthetics. Very Euro-modern but peaceful….

One last photo:

Is that the most perfect spot for a picnic? And some snuggling with a good book…Yes, sign me up…By the way, this is their grass roof…I’m loving this….

This is seriously like one of those guilt free pleasures in life, knowing that we can be eco-glam while living in harmony with the planet.

Estoy enamorada….(I’m in love..) Vamos? That’s Spanish for let’s go?

Africa Bridge helping to heal the planet…

So one of my clients, Kathe just came back from Tanzania, Africa, (I had no idea she was going) where she was working with Africa Bridge to sustain educational opportunities for children in local villages. Read on…

What does that mean exactly?

A happy and healthy adorable child….

Well…Kathe mentioned that many children in the villages are homeless due to HIV/AIDS and now that she is back in the U.S., she is working to raise funds from our schools here to partner with schools to build classrooms, teaching kids to read and write and improving their lives…You inspire me Kathe.

So I checked out the organization behind this work, Africa Bridge and what they do…

As stated on their website, “Out of the hearts and minds of a small group of Africans and westerners, Africa Bridge was launched in the summer of 2000. The HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa serves as the foundation upon which a bridge can be built linking the western and African worlds - a bridge over which diverse cultures can share complementary gifts and lessons, and create possibilities for those in need. Africa Bridge’s approach to helping orphaned and vulnerable children is unique, innovative and effective.” Love this…For more details, click here.

Nobel Peace prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu sits on the advisory board of Africa Bridge. Look into those deep, peaceful eyes.

It really doesn’t take much to make a difference in the world. When we take a step to support each other, even in the far reaches of the world, the change can be felt.

Notebook covers made from retro Bollywood posters….Love these!

Ok, so I’m suddenly in love again. This happens spontaneously when I find something that is truly unique. And here it is again, my darlings…the inspiration behind these notebooks from Ruby Rice is Bollywood and I’m definitely a lover of Bollywood films…An astrologer once told me that my female side is like a Bollywood dancer….Hmmm….

So, as reported on Designersblock, “these notebook covers are made from original hand painted Bollywood posters which are fast becoming a rarity due to India using new printing methods.” How eco-chic is that…

Honoring The Lunar Eclipse…Isn’t She Divine?

Oh Eco-Goddess moon in lunar eclipse…You are so healing…

Ok, so last night around 7pm ish after a much needed massage, I stepped out onto the streets of SE Portland, Oregon to the most beautiful and magnificent site….Yeah, baby this moon was pulling at my heart center like the Pied Piper beckoning me to follow….

I did everything I could to get a better view. I got in my car to find a more ideal place, but it seemed like the trees kept blocking me from seeing the moon in her full glory….I just stopped and got out…

Suddenly, my phone rang and luck was with me…It was my darling friend Linda inviting me over to observe the sky together at a schoolyard in her neighborhood . Bonus: Her brother Jimmy was there with binoculars, an astronomy book and his full knowledge of the stars….What a gift!

So I spent yesterday evening with two beautiful souls, observing the night sky, the lunar eclipse changing with every moment….As Newsday.com reported, “There were cameo appearances by Saturn and the bright star Regulus on either side of the veiled full moon.”

It took my breath away….Not only that, my dears, I am a Leo and the lion’s foot (at the brightest star Regulus) was right above the moon. That was no coincidence and I felt it strongly!

Honoring you Mother Moon…You are so healing and gave me just what I needed. May you continue to bring your children together as we heal the planet.

on how to forgive

Okay, so right now I’m sitting with forgiveness. I’ll first admit to you, that I’m dealing with a personal experience recently that now involves my forgiving that person and myself.

It’s been pretty intense. As the “upsetness” icky feeling in my body changes from day to day and sometimes hour to hour, I connect to the simple concept of the physical feeling and ask myself the question, “Ok, how am I feeling now?” This is an important tool I have learned in therapy that allows myself to show up for myself (if that makes any sense). I’ve been practicing it for some time now and it is really helping.

Okay, so before I got to the actual intention of forgiveness, I was in the anger phase and I know it’s important to be angry (at least for a little while) but it really didn’t serve me at all. Actually it made me feel worse. The rage only lasted a few days and zapped the living life out of me.

I imagine how many of us live with anger for years, without forgiveness and how debilitating that must be. Not for me and definitely not good for humanity or the planet.

I soon realized that love and compassion were the only way out. I switched my intention to forgiveness for myself first and then the person I was angry at.

Okay, so no, it’s not totally out of me yet, but it’s on its way. Breathing and sitting in silence just observing my thoughts without any judgment are helping a lot. Also, being grateful for all the love that surrounds me in my life is totally healing me. That includes hanging out with those dearest to my heart.

Thank-you dear friends in my life for surrounding me with your love and light…I am forever grateful for your presence in my life. Linda, you really are an angel.

May we all continue to share our love with the rest of the world.
