Murray the Electric Car–Oh Adorabe Eco-Chic You

Yes, that’s me on a beautiful (almost) Spring day in Portland with Murray. Isn’t he handsome?

Ok, so yesterday, my darling, dear, loving, beautiful and eco-conscious friend Jen and former editor of Green Living Magazine…(whew! that’s a lot of adjectives)…but yes, you get the idea…Anyway, Jen came over with yummy goodies from Sweetness Bakery Cafe (love them!) and had driven over in her electric car, whom she loving calls Murray. Oh look, there she is now in the photo below…

That’s rosemary in Jen’s hand from my garden…We’re at beautiful Mt. Tabor going for a walk…

So anyway, we’re driving in Murray to the park for a walk in the sunshine and I notice that people in cars and on the street are extra friendly, smiling back at us. Now this is not a regular occurrence when I’m in my regular gas drinking car….Maybe it’s because we’re really cute!….or it could be that everyone here knows what an electric car is and that it doesn’t take any gas to run it…And that puts a smile on everyone’s face.

Ok here are some more details on this eco-chic car. Murray runs on a battery that is charged while at home and each charge lasts for 30 miles. He goes up to 37 miles per hour. So what if Murray doesn’t go on the freeway, my grandmother didn’t drive on the highway either….but this handsome car can take you shopping, driving around town, errands, friends houses, even to the mall…And that is very eco-chic.

Ok so here’s the bonus: Murray is so super quiet, you don’t even know that he is running….Love that….As Jen said to me as we got into the car, “Imagine if all cars were this quiet, how that would change the energy of the planet.” I hear you baby and it’s very healing…

Murray, we name you honorary citizen of Planetpinkngreen. Jen, I love and adore you!

portland’s eco-chic ewf modern

Yes, that’s me while filming a vlog episode at EWF Modern….Watch it right here next Wednesday March 5th, bright and early…

Such decadence…It’s not every day that a girl such as myself gets to truly indulge her Highness “ness” in such a fabulously eco-chic modern furniture showroom like Portland’s EWF Modern…while promoting some serious sustainability. It’s a planetpink girl’s dream come true.

Renee Russo (not the actress, but, yes the Goddess) owner and eco-connoisseur of EWF Modern has created one of my favorite shopping destinations in Portland. I’m not alone in this. Many of my friends, admit to feeling week in the knees while perusing the store….Those faint of heart, beware… Oh my…

Renee and I admiring this gorgeous glass chandelier (to the right) which by the way is now hanging in my dining room. I couldn’t help myself. My friend Linda and I just stared at it for hours.

The store is located in the Pearl section of town at 1122 NW Glisan Ave.

We will post the video episode on March 5, 2008 right here.

kiss for peace

Ok, one of my favorite anti-war groups, CodePink, ran a Valentine’s Day campaign this year ‘08 in major cities called, “Don’t Enlist, Stay and Kiss, That Way Everyone Makes Out.

Anyway, I just saw this video posted on U-tube and had to share it with you…And yeah, I’m not a total Bob Dylan fan but I do love this song and believe he is a true poet.

Watch it and love it!

May we all kiss for peace and spread the love…Honoring all you peacemakers out there.

Happy Tuesday!

finding true love on the bus

Meeting people on the bus can open one up to meeting others and save precious resources in the process.

I saw this story on Treehugger this morning and it put the a big smile on my face:

“Bus-riding is for lovers. So proved Amanda Hodson and Brendan Miles, who were both taking the bus one fateful day in Calgary about five years ago. Amanda, who got on first, was riding with her friends when they bet her $40 to kiss the next person who hopped aboard. That person was Brendan, and she won the bet.” and it continues…

I walked on the bus, she walked up to me and all of a sudden she was kissing me,” Brendan said. “And I just said, ‘this is great!’, and so I kissed her back.” She offered some of her winnings to take him to coffee, which led to more dates and, finally, a wedding last week. Of course, their wedding pictures were taken in a bus. Just something to keep in mind the next time you consider climbing behind the wheel (alone) of your car; maybe not as conventional as Green Singles or the like, but equally effective, for sure. The happy couple have certainly embraced the ideals of our How to Green Your Public Transportation and How to Green Your Wedding guides; we’ll now refer them to How to Green Your Sex Life and wish them all the best. Next stop: honeymoon. Source:: Treehugger

So next time you think about getting in your car, consider the bus. It may be your destiny.
