Thanks for the tip sister goddess, I’ve always been intrigued by that store when I drive by but Its usually never a time when I could stop in. Thanks for the sneak preview I’m even more inspired!

  5. Ted Says:

Your phrase “fairly traded . . . simply beautiful” says it all. The store is well worth a visit. Very nice!

  6. Lauren Says:

Great story! Ten Thousand Villages is an incredible organization (did you know that many of the folks in the store are volunteers?), and the Portland store really shines. Your very hip&fun profile is great promotion for a very deserving nonprofit. I love shopping there because not only are the items beautiful, but each & every one of them was made by an adult who was paid fairly for their work. Love your vlog!!

  7. Kristen Conwell Says:

I am one of many volunteers at Ten Thousand Villages and spend about two days a month helping customers and admiring all the beautiful items. Every time I come in there are new, enticing crafts and edibles. Buying gifts here and/or volunteering here is my favorite way to ‘think globally and act locally’.

    Thanks.

Seeing your video makes me miss Portland and this beautiful store and the wonderful people who work and volunteer there. The rugs, the furniture and all the handmade items are fabulous. Feeling the connection to the artist who made each piece and knowing that their lives are impacted in positive ways because of fair trade, makes Ten Thousand Villages a truly special place. Keep up the good work, Portland Villages! Thanks for giving more visibility to a truly positive place of business.

Great video and great store! Not only do they have wonderful products and support fair trade they are wonderful people to work with. They have carried our handcrafted, fairly traded products from Nepal for years and are one of our FAVORITE customers. All around they represent a model for the future! Good job!

Thank you for featuring fair trade so fully and beautifully. 10,000 Villages is a great organization and their Portland store is especially well done. The more awareness brought to fair trade, the better for all fair trade companies and, most importantly, for the artisans our businesses support. Thanks Cheryl!

Cheryl, very nice. You’re getting the format down, and it’s oh so apparent the effort you’re putting into this and the blog. Actually shared your URL with a couple friends who are contemplating their own business-related blog, as being exemplary of the commitment required to make something like this successful. Kudos!

  20. Sandy M. Bushberg Says:

Wow!, Cheryl. This is fantastic. You are so incredibly creative and talented. This site is wonderful and an should stand as an inspiration to other sites to encourage them to help people make eco-friendly choices for all of their consumables. Thank you.

  21. Gil Says:

Nice piece! I am also a volunteer at the store, and love the products, the store’s mission, the staff and other fellow volunteers, as well as the customers, many of whom are energized when they learn about our fair-trade and nonprofit status. It’s a unique spot in the Pearl District, and spontaneous dancing is permitted at any time.
